Eugene Emeralds Mascot Goes Green

EUGENE, Ore. — If he wasn’t already the mascot for the Eugene Emeralds, Sluggo would be a natural for NextStep Recycling.

The big green bear is proving his green is more than what you see on the outside.

Sluggo stopped by NextStep Recycling Wednesday to drop off a few items and help promote this Sunday’s Going Neon Green Night at PK Park.

NextStep volunteers will be at the park sharing ideas, advice, and ways you can go green at home or at the office. Meantime, the Ems are proving they’re as green as their uniforms.

This year the Emeralds have worked to reduce their carbon footprint by limiting their heating, ventilation, and air conditioning use. They’re also reducing office printing and waste.
