Eugene Holds Birthday Celebration

EUGENE, Ore. — The city of Eugene turned 150 years old Wednesday.

The milestone was commemorated Wednesday morning at the Eugene Skinner Cabin Replica. Actors portrayed Mary and Eugene Skinner, as well as explorer Joe Meek. Mayor Kitty Piercy also accepted a quilt representing the city.

“You can’t forget where you come from as you move forward also and it’s good to take a time to look and celebrate who we are, why we’re here, the people who planned ahead so that we are here in this great city,” said Eugene resident Diane Palmer.

Free commemorative Eugene 150 postcards and special stamps were also passed out at the event.
