EUGENE, Ore. — After Friday, Eugene residents will need to take care of their own leaf piles. Friday was the final day of leaf pickup. Public Works crews collected more than 14,000 cubic yards of leaves and kept all of that out of the landfill.
Surface Maintenance Supervisor Damon Joyner said, “Eugene values reusing, recycling and reducing the inflow to our waste disposal stream. Recycling the leaves and composting them is an excellent way to be ba partner in that.”
The city said leaves placed on the streets now could be a hazard. Residents are encouraged to compost them at home or call local solid waste haulers for information on pickup.
