Eugene Marathon Looks for Volunteers

3-13 EUGENE MARATHON PICEUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Marathon is still more than four months away, but organizers are already looking to round up some volunteers to keep things running as smoothly as possible.

The Eugene Half and Full Marathon is July 27th this year. The health and fitness expo opens at Matthew Knight Arena on July 25th.

Race organizers say they’re looking for people to help with water stations, course marshals to direct runners and volunteers to help at the expo.

“The volunteers are basically like the lifeline of the race I think you know we have a small staff of you know four to five people and then over 1300 volunteers. So honestly it’s you know we say this a lot this event would not happen without the volunteers,” said Tate Kelley, Eugene Marathon Event Coordinator.

Kelley says they expect nearly 9,000 people to register for the different events, about the same as in the past.
