EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Mission’s doors were open on Wednesday for a free Christmas dinner.
It’s an annual tradition for the homeless shelter, and hundreds of people showed up to take advantage of the generosity.
Organizers say Wednesday afternoon’s meal was busier than the Thanksgiving feast.
Those who stay at the Mission say they’re thankful for everything the shelter provides.
“I’m very grateful for the staff. The guys here, they range from being great to wonderful,” said Robert Patrick Gabriel, who’s been at the Mission for several months.
Everyone who went to the Christmas dinner also got a gift bag full of necessities like socks, beanies, hand warmers, and razors. All the items were donated by community members.
