EUGENE, Ore. — A standoff in Eugene shut down two blocks of Roosevelt Boulevard near Garfield Street for an hour and a half early Wednesday evening.

Officers surrounded the home of a 16-year-old boy after they say he threatened his girlfriend with a gun.

A SWAT team and more than a dozen officers worked to get the teen out, even though they weren’t sure whether he was inside.

Police say they decided to clear the scene when he did not come out. They say they just want to check on his well-being.
