Eugene Police Investigate Hit and Run

3-1 hit and runEUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Police are still looking for a driver who hit a pedestrian Friday night and drove away. A woman is in the hospital with serious injuries following the crash.

It happened on Garfield Street near 9th Place. The street was open Saturday, after police spent hours Friday night investigating the hit-and-run crash.

Police said just after 7:30 Friday night a van struck a pedestrian near the Wetlands Bar and then sped away. Police located the van a few hours after the crash and are working to interview passengers who were inside the car at the time of the crash. They still haven’t figured out who was driving.

The police department said to could really use the public’s help in figuring out what exactly happened.

“We’re really looking for witnesses that may have seen part or all of what happened or may know the people involved,” said Sgt. Ron Tinseth.

Anyone who was in the area near the Wetland’s Bar around 7:30 p.m. Friday and may have witnessed the crash is asked to call the Eugene Police Department at (541) 682-5576.
