Party patrols focused on alcohol-related activities in the west and south University areas Friday and Saturday nights.
On Friday, they handed out 21 citations or arrests and 22 warnings. Then, on Saturday, there were 37 citations or arrests and 10 warnings.
Police say most violations were open containers or noise warnings and they also want to make sure people aren’t driving drunk.
“We always want people to control their guest lists and to make wise decisions about the parties they host but we also want folks who are drinking to designate a driver. If you’re out there and you’re driving drunk, if you don’t run into something, there’s a good chance we’re going to catch you in the process,” said Lt. Doug Mozan with Eugene police.
Fines for open container violations can be up to $1,000.
