EUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene man is in jail, accused of drugging and raping a teenage girl.

After the 17-year-old female victim called 911 on Friday, a SWAT team surrounded an apartment building on the 200 block of West Eighth Avenue.

The sixth floor was evacuated. Police used a flash bang grenade to distract 23-year-old Steven Mejia, who finally surrendered.

Mejia is reportedly a member of the Bario los Paddrinos criminal street gang and has an extensive record.

“He’s got some gang ties, some weapons offenses in the past. He’s on probation. And through talking with witnesses, he’s potentially armed with a handgun,” said Lt. Bill Solesbee, Eugene Police Department.

Investigators say they found an airsoft-type pistol in the apartment that looked like a sub machine gun. Police say the victim is in the hospital.

The female victim in this story is my daughter I just found out today that this man was only charged with unlawful delivery of meth to a minor and no sex charges I am so disappointed in the justice system this whole thing has been a total nightmare and now to hear this feels devastating
