EUGENE, Ore. — City crews in Eugene spent much of the day replacing a traffic signal that was disabled after a driver crashed into it.
Traffic was blocked at the light on East Broadway and Mill Street starting at about 1:30 a.m. Thursday, and it caused a lot of backup for the morning commute.
Crews opened up one lane of traffic in both directions by about 10 a.m. The new pole was in place by about noon.
Eugene police say the driver, 25-year-old Dana Getchell, is facing several charges, including DUII and reckless driving. She was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Crews say in these situations, the driver is responsible for repairs. So far, damages are estimated at $5,700.
