Eugene Stabbing Suspect Arrested

EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene police say the man arrested at a Eugene shopping complex Thursday night is a gang member who was involved in a stabbing last month.

Officers arrested Cory Weise in the parking lot of the Rite Aid store on Coburg Road. He’s accused of stabbing a man 11 times, outside Good Times Cafe in Eugene, Oct. 4.

Officers say Weise is a member of the West Side Gangsters, which formed in west Eugene in the ’90s.

Police used a flash bang device when taking him into custody, which alarmed people in the area.

“I hear a boom. I didn’t really know what it was, some sort of firework going off, just a kaboom. And it was pretty loud, so I got pretty scared,” said witness Cesar Geribay.

Weise is facing a charge of assault two for the October stabbing and unlawful delivery of a controlled substance within 1,000 feet of a school.
