Eugene to Host Track & Field Trials

EUGENE, Ore. — The U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials are once again coming to Track Town U.S.A. in 2016.

USATF CEO Max Siegel made the announcement Thursday at the Oregon State Capitol building, surrounded by Governor John Kitzhaber, TrackTown USA President Vin Lananna and other supporters.

This is the third straight time, and the sixth overall, that Eugene will host the trials.

“Eugene set the bar high for what it means to host an Olympic Trials in 2008, and in 2012 they exceeded anyone’s expectations with a truly spectacular, world-class event,” Siegel said. “Local and state organizers cater not only to our athletes, but to track fans as well, and they have redefined the fan experience. As our sport continues to grow nationally, we are pleased to return to TrackTown in 2016.”

The trials will take place July 1-10, 2016 and Hayward Field. The 2016 Olympics will take place in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
