A new car show will take place in Oakridge on July 12. Registrations are being accepted now. The 501c3 nonprofit group Oakridge Concerts in the Park has been organizing a free, family-friendly summer concert series for almost 10 years and have incorporated a car show into their July 12 date.
The Blues, Brews, and Cruise festival is named after the great blues bands we have lined up (Heavy Chevy and Vicky Stevens), a beer garden, and the cars. We hope it becomes a successful annual event.
Cars will meet at the A&W Restaurant (47841 Hwy. 58) in Oakridge starting at 11:00. At 12:30 a police escort will lead them to cruise the Uptown area of Oakridge for a short time before being escorted to Greenwaters Park (48362 Hwy. 58) for the show and concert.
Live music will play and a beer garden will be open from 1:00 until 8:00. Awards will be presented at 4:00 p.m.
Awards will be given for: Best Paint, Best Interior, Best Engine, City Administrator’s Pick, Fire Chief’s Pick, Police Chief’s Pick, Mayor’s Pick, Westfir Mayor’s Pick, School Administrator’s Pick, Best Motorcycle, and Best in Show.
An entry fee of $20 includes a tee shirt and live concert. Dash plaques and goody bags will be given to the first 50 entries. (Tee shirt size only guaranteed with pre-registration by June 25).
All proceeds directly benefit the summer concert series to keep the concerts free. This year a portion of the season’s profits will be donated to Fight 4 Luke to help with medical expenses for a local teen who has been diagnosed with a rare blood disorder.
