Everyone Safe After House Fire

ALBANY, Ore. — The Albany Fire Department responded to a fire Thursday evening at a two-story home on Umatilla Street. Firefighters reported smoke coming from the second floor windows after arriving on scene.

The fire was confined to a bedroom on the second floor and contained within minutes. The bedroom suffered significant fire damage and heavy smoke damage occurred throughout the second floor.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation and the building’s owner was insured.

Homeowner, Kathy Ann Siemens, and four others were inside the home at the time of the fire and safely evacuated before firefighters arrived. The extensive damage to the home, however, has left Siemens and the others unable to return inside.
