EUGENE, Ore. – The Eugene Water and Electric Board and Lane Electric discussed transferring service of McKenzie River Valley’s territory at Tuesday night’s meeting.
Currently, power to the McKenzie River Valley is under EWEB’s control. The territory includes almost 3,000 people stretching from outside Springfield city limits to Vida.
More than 95 percent of EWEB’s customer’s live in Eugene city limits, which makes it difficult for them to respond to outages and situations up the river.
Both EWEB and Lane Electric plan to discuss the possible transfer with their customers in upcoming months.
