Exhibit Promotes Affordable Housing

EUGENE, Ore. — A Eugene organization is pushing to bring more affordable housing to Lane County.

The group says nearly 20,000 people qualify for affordable housing in Lane County, but there are only 4,500 units available.

In an effort to bring awareness to that situation, the Metropolitan Affordable Housing Corporation has teamed up with Housing and Community Services Agency of Lane County to create a special photo exhibit called “Yes In My Backyard.”

“The reason we want affordable housing in our backyards is obviously because it helps meet the critical need for people who need housing in our community, and they’re also just great communities in how they’re built…in regards to what the quality of the housing is,” said Richard Herman, MAHC Executive Director.

The pictures showcase different affordable housing communities in Lane County. The photo display will stay in the downtown LTD station until the end of the month.
