EUGENE, Ore. — A proposed homeless village will be the topic of a discussion being held Tuesday night. “Opportunity Village” is similar to homeless villages in Portland and Seattle. The committee in charge of the project has proposed the intersection of 13th Ave. and Chambers St. as a good site for such a village due to its proximity to various services, including bus lines.
Architect Mark Lakeman, whose nonprofit organization was instrumental in creating Portland’s Dignity Village, will be speaking at an event about the project Tuesday night. It will be held at 7:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 1685 W. 13th Ave.
