UPDATE (4:23 p.m.): Police say Yarbrough is aware that authorities are searching for him and he may be carrying a weapon. He may also be linked to a dark green Chevrolet Suburban with the Oregon license plate number 897FPD.
COOS BAY, Ore. — A home was evacuated after police found a cache of explosives, firearms, and ammunition on Wednesday.
Officers were investigating a report of domestic violence at the Hull Street home when they made the discovery. They notified neighboring residents of the danger and restricted access to the neighborhood until the explosives could be rendered safe.
After obtaining a search warrant, investigators found seven improvised explosive devices in addition to firearms and ammunition. The Oregon State Police Explosives Unit arrived on scene and rendered the IEDs safe.
Police have identified 38-year-old Jay Kenneth Yarbrough as the suspect in the case; he’s wanted on a number of charges, including domestic assault and possession of a destructive device. Investigators urge people to use extreme caution if they encounter Yarbrough.
