Failed Bond Measure Focus of Forum

2-4 Springfield BondSPRINGFIELD, Ore. — The Springfield School District heard valuable feedback as it continues to search for answers following last year’s failed bond measure.

The district held an open forum Tuesday at Hamlin Middle School. They asked people to share their thoughts about the failed bond measure. The $62.5 million bond would have helped rebuild Hamlin and improve technology district wide.

People at the forum say the advertising about the bond was weak and it didn’t detail enough information about the measure. Others say it was just too much money.

The district says it plans to gather all of this information and ultimately find the right fit for the community.

“Making sure the community is supportive of the choices we make. In that sense there isn’t a timeline on it,” said Devon Ashbridge, Springfield Schools Communications Specialist. “It’s about making sure we’re working with our community”

The district’s holding another meeting at Thurston Middle School. That meeting’s scheduled for February 18.
