METEOROLOGIST MELISSA FREY’S FORECAST DISCUSSION:
The clouds are back and the temperatures are falling…summer must be coming to an end. We’re down to just 72 hours left in the summer season and we’ll see the air get a little bit cooler and the clouds thicken with each day.
With clear skies for most of the night, our lows dropped into the upper 40s last night. The clouds moved in just before sunrise and will keep us from climbing very high today. We should top out in the upper 70s in the valley, mid 80s in the Umpqua Basin and low 60s for coast.
The marine layer is going to be a force to be reckoned with this week. It’ll be back Thursday morning, breaking for the afternoon. Friday the clouds will likely be more persistent which will also drop temperatures to the mid 70s.
The wild card for the weekend is an area of low pressure that is slowly making its way up the California coast. The track of this will effect our weather quite a bit. Right now its looking like we’ll stay mostly cloudy with highs in the mid 70s for both Saturday and Sunday. There is a slight chance for thunder showers over the Cascades and drizzle for the Coast.
Have a great Wednesday!
