EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene’s City Council discussed the fate of the Downtown Public Safety Zone at their public meeting Monday night.
City councilors are not sure if they want to change the ordinance for the Public Safety Zone, or just get rid of it all together.
The current ordinance for the zone bans people cited for certain crimes downtown, to go back downtown. It’s set to expire soon.
A public hearing is planned for next Monday to discuss the issue. The council plans to vote on the zone’s fate in October.
