The work is expected to start Friday night and last until Monday morning, and it’ll continue the next four weekends.
The project manager says with traffic reduced to one lane each way, taking I-105 or Franklin Boulevard would help ease congestion.
Crews will work to improve conditions on the heavily used road.
“The base of the road is structurally sound. It’s surface-wear because of the extreme volumes of traffic, so we’re going to change the surface from the asphalt surface to a concrete surface, which is much more ware resistant,” said John Bonham, project manager.
Work begins on the northbound left lane at 7 p.m. Friday.
