Fewer Fatals and DUIIs Over Holiday

SALEM, Ore. — There were fewer fatal crashes and DUII arrests over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend than the same time period last year, according to Oregon State Police’s preliminary information.

There were two fatal crashes on Thanksgiving in Oregon. One happened on Highway 204, west of Elgin in northest Oregon (right). The other killed a Portland man while he was trying to cross the street in SE Portland.

Last year, three people died in crashes in Oregon during Thanksgiving weekend.

There were also fewer DUII arrests compared to last year. This year during the holiday period, there were 47 DUII arrests. Last year there were 72.
