SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Springfield’s 87-year-old Brattain Elementary School had its last, last day of school Thursday.
But while its tenure as a grade school is finished, the district says the building has plenty of life left.
That’s why, starting this fall, it will be used as a hub for district pre-kindergarten programs.
Parents are still getting used to the idea of Brattain Elementary closing and a bittersweet process for the district.
“Brattain certainly has a long history in our community, and while today is its last day as an elementary school, we are excited that it’s still going to continue to serve some of our youngest children,” said Devon Ashbridge with the Springfield School District
Right now, the Springfield pre-K programs are dispersed, and the district feels having them all under one roof will benefit students, teachers and parents.
