ALVADORE, Ore. — An Alvadore home lost its shop to a fire early Monday morning.
No one was hurt, but several chickens died in the fire.
By the time crews got to the scene, the building was engulfed in flames.
The cause is still under investigation, but investigators think a heat lamp is to blame.
“This time of year it’s not uncommon for people to have heating lamps that they use to keep chicks warm and incubators and such, and we’ve had a number of fires this year already that have been caused by those. So certainly, we want folks to be very cautious and aware of the usage of heating lamps,” said Lane Rural Fire Rescue Division Chief Chris Heppel.
There are no damage estimates at this time, but the shop was a total loss.
