EUGENE, Ore. — The Eugene Fire Department responded to a house fire just before 4 a.m. on Wednesday.
Fire crews arrived at the house, located on the 3900 Block of Century Dr. in West Eugene, to find the top story of the house ablaze. The house’s two occupants were able to evacuate safely. Crews managed to stop the fire after 12 minutes, but the house is thought to be a total loss.
“There was a lot of fire at the very beginning,” said Eugene Fire Department Battalion Chief Matt Ennis. “Crews did an outstanding job at keeping the fire contained to the structure of origin.”
Ennis said the fire did not extend to any nearby houses. Three pets were still unaccounted for Wednesday morning.
