SPRINGFIELD, Ore. — Fire officials are investigating a fire that burned a home on Daisy St. in Springfield early Thursday morning.

The first calls came in just before 2 a.m. and police say all five occupants got out safely. The fire appears to have started in an adjacent building and spread to the attic of the home.

“It gave me a scare, because usually you tell yourself I wouldn’t run inside of a burning house but every single one of us was prepared to do that,” says neighbor Jeremy Smith.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to two or three rooms. Fire crews say the home will probably be a total loss.
