Fire Damages House on Harlow Road

EUGENE, Ore. — Investigators are trying to figure out what caused a fire at a Eugene home Friday afternoon.

Just after 1 p.m., firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the 3800 block of Harlow Road. When they arrived, they found smoke coming from the back corner of the home.

Firefighters say there was only one person inside, when the fire broke.

“Don’t know exactly what his actions were at the time, but he was at home and he got out safely,” said Matthew Steinberg, Eugene/Springfield Fire Battalion Chief.

It took firefighters about 15 minutes to control the fire. They’re still investing the cause. Damage estimates are around $90,000.
