Fire Damages in House in North Eugene

house fire

EUGENE, Ore. — Nine cats are still missing after a house fire in Eugene Thursday morning.

A neighbor reported smoke in the home on Kinney Loop at around 10:50 a.m.

When crews arrived, there were flames in the living room that were spreading to the attic.

They didn’t find anyone inside when they did an initial sweep of the home.

Neighbors say two people lived there with nine cats.

We’re told the home and contents suffered heavy damage.

“A lot of contents inside the house, so it kind of hindered our fire attack and the search, so there will be a lot of damage and the occupant will be displaced for quite some time,” said Deputy Chief Randy DeWitt, Eugene-Springfield Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
