GOSHEN, Ore. — A former volunteer firefighter lost his home in a blaze early Tuesday morning.

It happened on the 34-thousand block of  B Street around midnight.  The fire reportedly started in an attached structure near the back of the house.  Goshen firefighters called multiple units from surrounding cities for backup, but the home became a total loss.

Chief David Wolting of the Goshen Fire Department said he was heightened by the nature of the call when he realized who lived at the home.  “This resident is a former volunteer with our fire district,” he said.  “His daughter is also a firefighter with the city of Springfield.  So these folks are one of our own.”

No one was injured in the fire and though its cause is still unknown, investigators are not calling it suspicious.
