LEBANON, Ore. – Lebanon firefighters responded to a report of a structure fire at the base of Peterson Butte Tuesday.
Firefighters say around 3 p.m. they responded to 35930 Polly Farm Ln. to a field fire that was approximately 1/3 acre in size. The fire spread to a motor home, camp trailer, and utility trailer and was moving uphill towards brush and timber.
Crews were able to control the fire just before it reached the brush, but the camp trailer and motor home were total losses. The utility trailer received minor damage. There were no injuries.
Lebanon Fire determined the cause of the fire to be a campfire from the previous evening. The occupant told investigators that he had used three buckets of water to extinguish the fire and thought it was out. It was determined there were still smoldering embers that ignited the fire.
