Fire Season Starts in Douglas County

ROSEBURG, Ore. — Effective May 15, fire season officially starts.

The Douglas Forest Protective Association made the call for all land protected by DFPA.

It is the earliest fire season has been declared since 1990.

Crews are still mopping up two fires including the Andrews Creek Fire, which burned over 60 acres near Yoncalla.

While other agencies haven’t yet declared fire season, they are noticing unseasonably dry conditions. Many areas, including Lane County, also have burn bans in place.
