DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. — The Douglas Forest Protective Association responded to a wildfire that started Monday night.
The fire, located near South Umpqua Road three miles north of Tiller, began just after 4:30 p.m. The blaze burned about 25 acres before members of the DFPA managed to stop it.
About 40 firefighters, seven fire engines and two helicopters responded to the fire. Firefighters remained on the scene overnight. DFPA sent firefighters back to the scene Tuesday to continue mopping up hot spots.
No structures were threatened by the fire and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
