Firefighters Conduct Practice Drill

firefightersCORVALLIS, Ore. — Corvallis firefighters are learning how to fight fires with fewer resources in the light of budget cuts.

In Thursday’s drill, crews practiced what they call a realistic situation. They get a fire call, but only one crew is able to respond.

In the drill, the fake roof collapses and firefigthers can’t get out.

“Having firefighters trapped inside a building – it doesn’t happen to us here in Corvallis very often, but when it does, we want to be prepared for it,” said firefighter Chris Fox.

Last week two Boston firefighters lost their lives in a fire. It’s another reason crews in Corvallis think it’s so important to practice different situations.
