It isn’t quite done yet, but the plastic it was covered in for months finally came off Tuesday, and now crews are working to put up all the awnings.
It will be a mixed-use building with both businesses and apartments. Planners think it will be help in the city’s efforts to redevelop downtown.
“It’s a way of creating more density. So rather than have single-story retail uses, you can put more density into a single building by putting residential on top, so this form of development, particularly downtown is desirable,” said Denny Braud, Eugene Development Analyst.
The building’s owner hopes to start opening up the space to the public as early as April.
