EUGENE, Ore. — It was definitely a cold day, but the generosity on display Tuesday would warm any heart. Sometimes the donations for Toys for Tots came in one at a time. But other times, they came by the bagful or armful, usually hauled by a child with a huge smile on his or her face.
“It’s aweseome to see the looks on kids’ faces when they donate toys — and the parents,” says U.S. Marine corporal Bradley Kaye. “Everybody’s really excited to help out.”
That excitement filled the boxes in front of the Bi-Mart on Willakenzie with enough toys to stuff the Marines’ van — twice.
Next week, all the donated toys will be handed out to Lane County parents who otherwise might not be able to put anything under the tree, warming those hearts as well.
