Fishing Vessel Runs Aground near Newport

YAQUINA BAY, Ore. — Three people are being treated for possible hypothermia after their fishing vessel ended up grounded near Newport Sunday afternoon.

The U.S. Coast Guard got a call from crew members saying their vessel was about to run aground on Yaquina Bay’s South Jetty. The fishermen ended up swimming to shore.

Seven-hundred gallons of diesel fuel remained on board. No pollution has been reported.
