Foggy Starts, Sunny Finishes Continue

Chief Meteorologist Justin Stapleton‘s Evening Forecast Discussion:

More of the same for the next couple of days and we should take full advantage of this weather.  Tonight, clear early with the exception for overcast skies at the coast, with inland valleys filling in for a foggy start once again Friday.

Tomorrow through the weekend, it’ll be thick valley fog in the morning, plenty of sunshine in the afternoon.  Highs the next few days will climb into the low to mid 60s. The coast will battle the marine clouds as a trapped upper level low slowly drifts north under the high pressure bubble. It won’t have much of an effect on inland areas, just a push of some stronger marine layer influence.

As for weekend football, both the Ducks and Beavers are in town with big matchups. Ducks kickoff against UCLA at 4p, under sunny skies (foggy if you’re going to crash ESPN Gameday broadcast at 6am). Meanwhile, the Beavers will see clear skies and temps in the mid 50s for kickoff against Stanford.

The ridge holds into next week as well, so we’ll be seeing a sunny stretch of over 2 weeks straight going into the back end of October. However, a big push of cold, Canadian air heads into the Eastern half of the Pacific Northwest, and as winds turn more offshore, we’ll pull in that cooler air. That will chop highs back into the 50s next week, but its a cold, dry air, so we’ll continue on this dry trend.

Have a great Friday!
