EUGENE, Ore. — Last year, Christmas was on a Sunday. But this year, it falls on a Tuesday, which gave people a full weekend to get their Christmas errands accomplished before the big holiday rolled around.
The malls and other shops in town have been filled with shoppers taking advantage of the extra time.
Last-minute shopper Herb Severson said, “I definitely waited because I had the weekend. I felt like, ‘Hey, Christmas isn’t till Tuesday. I’ve got the whole weekend to shop.’ And here it is Sunday and it’s almost Christmas”
Vendors said no matter how much time people think they have, for many, it never seems to be enough. And no matter what day Christmas lands on, it’s always busy the days leading up to it.
