Oregon State is asking students, staff, faculty and fans to take alternative transportation to campus if possible. The game against USC is unusual in that it takes place on a day when classes are in session.
“With 45,000 fans and 23,000 more students and 7,000 faculty and staff, there’s going to be a huge congestion,” said Steve Clark, the University’s Vice President in Relations and Marketing.
He suggests folks walk, bike, carpool, or take the city bus. Anyone who takes the city bus to or from campus on Friday will receive a coupon that is good for a non-conference OSU men’s basketball game, discounted Dutch Brothers coffee, or a coupon at an on-campus convenience store.
Tailgaters can set up in phases in designated parking lots starting around noon.
“There are only so many spaces,” Clark said. “And it’s an opportunity to really try to minimize what will be a chance for congestion in Corvallis streets or congestion on campus as it relates to parking.”
The game kicks off at 6:00 pm at Reser Stadium.
