Fundraiser Helps Pay for Mammograms

EUGENE, Ore. — The Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure is still a couple of months out, but a fundraiser for it is just days away.

On Thursday, Liz and Reilly from 94.5 Mix FM will host their second annual PinkNic on the Patio from 6 to 9 p.m. at Sweet Cheeks Winery. For $20, attendees can get a glass of wine, chocolates, prizes, live music and, of course, the breathtaking view.

Liz and Reilly say when the idea came up a year ago, it was a no-brainer to get behind it.

“It’s something that as women in our 40s we’re very mindful of mammograms and breast cancer, and so we have a microphone and we have a means, and hopefully we have the heart that we want to do something meaningful for our community,” Liz said.

Seventy-five percent of the money raised stays local to help low-income women pay for mammograms. It also supports women battling breast cancer.

Tickets are available at Oldfields, Sweet Cheeks Winery, the 94.5 studio, or online.
