GA Parents in Court for Locking Up Child

GavelGwinnett County, GA (CNN) — Bond was denied Thursday for an ex-GA Tech football player and his wife.

Investigators say the parents who locked up their now-14-year-old son in a basement room for more than a year explained they were simply disciplining the boy.

Recardo and Therian Wimbush are each charged with child cruelty in the first degree, and false imprisonment.

The 14-year old son is the oldest of 10 children.

One detective who testified at the hearing said the boy did not complain to investigators about his treatment.

A case worker testified that the room was about 8 ft. by 10 ft.

All ten children are in custody of division of family and children services.
