Gem Faire Returns to Eugene

4-20 gem faireEUGENE, Ore. — As kids were hunting for Easter eggs Sunday, others were hunting for treasure at this weekend’s Gem Faire.

From fossils to gold, people hunting for treasure found what they were looking for Sunday afternoon. The faire comes to Eugene a few times a year because organizers said people in the area have a strong interest in rocks.

But whether a geologist or just someone looking for some new sparkly jewelry organizers said there’s something for everyone at the faire. “Just that kid that’s kind of interested in rocks. They can come out and look at some of the crystals and things here. We have the rock club, the local rock and mineral club out here answering questions and giving demonstrations,” said James Bliss, Gem Faire show manager.

The Gem Faire will be back in town during the Fourth of July weekend.
