Get Crafty with Holiday Gifts

EUGENE, Ore. — A lot of us are in a tight spot when it comes to spending this holiday season, so why not make gifts instead of just buying them?

Staffers at the Materials Exchange Center for Community Arts (M.E.C.C.A.) suggest having a craft party to create things like bottle cap earrings, bulletin boards out of corks, no-sew scarves or decorated frames.

“You might find all sorts of materials that instead of putting it in a landfill, you make it available to the rest of the community and you can get low cost resources to inspire the kids in your life to be more creative,” said Sarah Grimm, Land County Waste Reduction Specialist.

M.E.C.C.A. has craft drop-in hours every Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
