Giving Tree Set Up at Eugene Mall

EUGENE, Ore. — It’s almost that time of year again, and one local organization wants you to help make Christmas merrier for families in need.

On Friday, the Active 20-30 Club of Eugene set up the Giving Tree at the Valley River Center. It’s very simple. You just select an ornament, buy a gift for a child and return both the gift and the ornament by Dec. 16.

Organizers hope that the program will give a Merry Christmas to children who might not have one otherwise.

“We have a lot of children in this community that need our help especially during the holiday season, and a lot of children wouldn’t receive gifts otherwise, you know? Let’s get all these gifts filled as best we can this year,” said Gretchen Bredeson, Giving Tree Project Chair.

If you’re interested in participating, the Giving Tree is set up by the customer service desk at the Valley River Center, and the program starts Saturday, Nov. 10.
