The automaker says it’s recalling more than 3 million vehicles over an ignition switch issue linked to 8 crashes and 6 injuries.
A GM spokesman said the issue in this newest recall relates to a different ignition switch problem from the one linked to at least 13 deaths and another 2.6 million vehicle recall.
The decade-long delay in that recall is currently under federal investigation and at the center of several lawsuits against GM.
Monday’s recall affects some Chevrolet, Cadillac and Buick models from 2000 through 2014. The total number of recalled GM vehicles this year now stands at more than 20 million.
