Kitzhaber was the keynote speaker at the Eugene Chamber of Commerce’s 2014 Economic Forecast event at the Eugene Hilton. He touched on different subjects from healthcare to creating jobs and helping rural communities.
As for Lane County, the governor says he sees good things in the future.
“I think it’s bright. The recovery’s going to be slow. We’ve got things like the Regional Accelerator Innovation Network that they set up that’s going to help take research out of the U of O and commercialize it into jobs. We’re still working with dealing with O&C issues. It’s very, very important but I think we’re on balance. We’re moving in the right direction here,” said Gov. Kitzhaber.
He says as of this morning, 226,000 more people are now enrolled in the Oregon Health Plan.
