Grant Pays for Runway Repavement

Cottage Grove AirportCOTTAGE GROVE, Ore. — The Cottage Grove Airport will soon be getting a face-lift, thanks to $2 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration.

The funds will be used to replace the runway at the Cottage Grove State Airport, or Jim Wright Field.

The city manager says it’s been close to 20 years since the runway has been replaced and the airport will pour dollars into the economy.

“We’re excited. It’s a significant improvement to the community, and the airport brings in traffic and economic development,” said Richard Meyers, Cottage Grove City Manager,

He says a number of historical shows and tours happen during the summer at Jim Wright Field, and hopefully construction will be done in time for those.

Construction is set to begin around May and should take about 90 days.
