Group Holds Typhoon Haiyan Fundraiser

EUGENE, Ore. — Nearly two weeks after Typhoon Haiyan hit in the Philippines, the death toll has now crossed the 4,000 mark, and nearly 1,600 people are still missing.

People from all around the world continue to send help to victims, including our area.

Thursday night, members of the University of Oregon Kultura Pilipinas will be hosting a spaghetti feed fundraiser.

“In the news, people have lost their homes and their lives and their loved ones and we just felt the urgency to take charge and do something about this to help better the lives for these folks back home,” said Demiliza Saramosing, UO Kultura Pilipinas Co-Director.

The event will run from 6-8 p.m. at the Wesley Center on Kincaid Street in Eugene. The group is asking for a $5 minimum donation.

You can also help pack the in-kind donations to be sent out later this month.
