EUGENE, Ore. — Just two more days until a new year, new resolutions, and for some people, a new gym routine.

Management at International Fitness on Green Acres Road says they’re gearing up for the busiest time of the year, when people make new year’s resolutions and are working toward their goals.

Assistant manager, Andy Haag, says the only other time that it gets close to this busy is at the beginning of summer, but the month of January is hands down the biggest month for International Fitness. He says clients sign up for memberships and they also bring a positive attitude because they want to change for the new year.

“People are just trying to get in better health and feel better about themselves. They want to get in here and do everything they can to make this year better than last,” said Haag.

Haag says around Christmas and right after is when they’re the slowest.

He also says right now is still slow but in just two days, they expect business to pick up.

Personal trainer, Sam Kiesse, says he loves the month of January because of the enthusiasm new clients bring and those are the ones that usually stick around once memberships start to dip about four to six weeks into the year.
